Because universal remotes are made by different brands (like RCA, GE, One For All, or Philips), they use different code lengths and programming steps.

​1. Top 4-Digit Codes for Major TV Brands

​If your remote requires a 4-digit code (the most common format for modern remotes), try these top-verified codes first:  

​Samsung: 3831, 0060, 0178, 1047  

​LG: 1423, 0178, 2182, 0030  

​Sony: 3611, 0000, 1300, 0810

​Vizio: 0004, 1756, 0178, 0112

​TCL: 11756, 12434, 2891, 0896 (Note: Often uses 5 digits)

​RCA: 0000, 1721, 3381, 0048  

​Hisense: 0748, 0073, 0182, 0216

​Toshiba: 0159, 0117, 1005, 0049  

​2. How to Program Your Remote (Manual Method)

​The exact button combination depends slightly on the brand of the remote control you are holding:

​For GE and RCA Remotes

Hold the Setup button

Until the light stays on

Press and hold the SETUP button on the remote until the red or parameter light turns on and stays lit.

Press the TV button

The light will blink once

Press and release the TV button on the remote.

Enter the code

Using the number pad

Type in the 4-digit code for your TV brand. The indicator light will shut off if the code is accepted.

Test the buttons

Point the remote at your TV and try the Power and Volume buttons. If they don't work, repeat the process with the next code in the list.

For One For All Remotes

1. ​Hold down the MAGIC or SETUP button until the LED blinks twice.
2. ​Press the TV device button.
3. ​Enter the code. The LED will blink twice to show it succeeded.

​If none of the direct codes are responding, you can force the remote to cycle through its entire internal library until it finds a match.
